9th Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities
The meeting was attended by representatives of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia, participating as an observer. Representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina were also welcomed, participating as observers.
Several topics of importance and interest to all participants addressed during the meeting focused on the following issues:
- Introduction of the Schengen acquis and criteria for its implementation;
- Data protection in the 3rd pillar of the EU;
- Transparency of data processing;
- Electronic health records;
- New technologies, etc.
The participants of the meeting agreed on the need to develop future cooperation in addressing the above topics and other matters of common interest.
The members also stated that they should continue to meet once a year to exchange experiences and good practices in the field of data protection. The delegations express their gratitude to the organisers, Mr Franjo Lacko, Director of the Croatian Data Protection Agency, and his staff. They also convey their congratulations for the very good organisation of the meeting in Zadar.
